Vikra performed at the Ursuline Church of the Holy Trinity in Ljubljana as part of the fourth concert in this season’s Sakralni Abonma (Sacred Music Subscription). The program “Star(e)s – Sguardi di luce e ombra (Glimpses of Light and Shadow)” explored faces of light and shadow through choral works by Slovenian and international composers, creating a profound dialogue between celestial themes and human spirituality.
Under the direction of Petra Grassi, the ensemble presented a sophisticated repertoire featuring works by composers such as Nana Forte, Andrej Makor, Ambrož Čopi, and the world premiere commissioned for the festival in Pordenone by Aulon Naçi. The “Star(e)s” program is specifically designed to highlight the contrast between the “light” of divine inspiration and the “shadows” of earthly existence, a theme that resonated perfectly within the Baroque architecture and exceptional acoustics of the Ursuline Church.
This performance was a significant highlight of the 2023/24 Sakralni Abonma season, organized by the Kulturno društvo Glasbena matica Ljubljana and the Ursuline Convent. By participating in this renowned series, Vikra further consolidated its role as a bridge between the Slovenian minority in Italy and the central musical institutions of the Slovenian capital.
